The classic Newton cradle involved a number of steel balls, usually five, suspended on a line of fine wires. Just set a ball to hit the stationary balls and its momentum is transferred through each of them to exactly one ball at the opposite end, the rest remaining stationary. The movement time of these balls is 40-60 seconds.
